Republican lawmaker Kevin McCarthy has been elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the US Legislature, in the 15th vote after 14 consecutive failures to vote.
McCarthy had the last laugh after a long battle with another Republican lawmaker, Matt Goetz.
This Saturday, American news media CNN reported that, in the 164-year history of the United States, this is the first time in the 164-year history of the election of the speaker of the lower house that the vote has to be organized so many times.
